EUCAN on being a socially and environmentally responsible charitable organisation
{text}
- In it’s efforts to decrease its carbon footprint, the EUCAN organisation arranges trips across Europe without booking flights wherever possible. Ferry, minibus and public transport by way of train is arranged.
- EUCAN trips are planned with sensitivity in mind.
- Groups of strangers with a common interest which is a love for nature and the environment travel together to a European country where conservation partners are in need of a little helping hand to achieve their goals. These strangers who travel from all over the UK soon become good friends
- The trips include cultural visits to museums and areas of local historical interest.
Food is locally sourced in small town markets contributing to local economic development. Evening meals are often prepared by local people supplementing the income of locals. The mouthwatering delights prepared for us are all local to the region and only the best ingredients are good enough. Brie de Meaux and Loire Valley puy lentils eaten in close proximity to its region of origin is the best way to enjoy French cuisine and culture.
- During our days off we explored museums of culture, visited local traders in their workshops such a brie factory, and were shown inside churches and temples.
